Privacy policy
Effective 26 October 2026. In short: no ads and no tracking. Unless you turn it off, your training and race result are shared without your name to improve the predictions. Signing in, which is optional, keeps a copy of your data.
If you do not sign in
Your goal, your plan, the runs you log, your shoes and your settings are stored on your phone. Nothing else about you leaves it, except what is shared to improve the predictions, unless you turn that off (see below).
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. You can use Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. When you do:
- Your account: an account ID and the email address your sign-in method gives us (with Sign in with Apple this can be a private relay address), held by Firebase Authentication, a Google service.
- Your training data: one saved copy of what the app holds on your phone (your goal, including your year of birth for the age adjustment; your runs; your shoes; your settings, including your cadence target, last measured cadence and fuelling numbers; and how each fuelling practice went), held in Google Cloud Firestore in the United States.
We use these only to keep your progress safe and let you use it on another device. Only your own account can read or write your copy; the database rules refuse everyone else.
Improving the predictions
The chance the app shows comes from a model that has to be checked against what really happens in races, and corrected. So that it can be, the app shares a record of each training program:
- The goal: the race distance, the goal time (or that the goal is to finish), how many weeks, how many training days a week, your age in a five-year band, and your starting result.
- The training: for each run you log, which day of the program it was, its distance and time, the work pace if you gave one, and which kind of session it was. Sessions you skipped, by day of the program.
- What the gauge said: the chance and range it showed you, each day the record was updated.
- The race result: your finish time, or that you did not finish or did not race, if you tell the app.
The record carries no name, email or account. Dates are kept as days from the start of your program, plus the month of the race. It holds no location, route, shoes or notes. It is filed under a random ID made on your phone, not under your account. If you are not signed in, the app signs in anonymously to Firebase Authentication only to be allowed to write the record; that anonymous sign-in is never shown or linked to anything.
This is on by default. The first time, the app says so before anything is sent, and you can turn it off right there. You can also turn it off any time on the You tab. "Delete what I have shared", in the same place, deletes what your phone sent. "Erase everything" deletes it too. Records are held in Google Cloud Firestore in the United States and are used only to check and improve the predictions. We may publish summaries, for example "of goals the app gave 60–70%, this many were met", never individual records.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No selling your data, and no sharing it with anyone outside EtherTech.
- No access to your contacts, photos, or health data.
The cadence trainer
Only while you run with the cadence trainer on, the app reads your location, to know when each kilometre or mile is done, and your phone's step counter, to work out your cadence. Both are used on your phone during the run and are not stored or sent anywhere. Your route is never saved. What is kept is what you choose to log (the run's distance and time) and your average cadence, used for the next recommendation; if you are signed in, these are part of your saved copy.
Reminders
Run reminders, if you turn them on, are scheduled on your phone. No server sends them.
Payments
The app takes no payments today. If that changes, this policy will be updated before it does, and payments will be handled by the App Store, Google Play or the payment processor, who do not share your card details with us.
Deleting your data
In the app: the You tab, "Delete my account". It deletes your saved copy and your sign-in at once. "Delete what I have shared", in the same place, deletes the records shared to improve the predictions. To clear the phone too, use "Erase everything", also on the You tab, which also deletes what was shared, or delete the app. If you cannot open the app, email contact@ethertech.dev from the address you signed in with.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and asks for an age of at least 12 to plan training.
This website
These pages, and the web version of the app at onyourmarks.ethertech.dev, use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views. It sets no cookies and does not attempt to identify you. Cloudflare serves this site, so it already receives your IP address with the request; the analytics beacon adds a page-view count and involves no other company. The beacon is added by the web host, not built into the app: the iPhone and Android apps never load it, and everything above about the app is unchanged.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Questions: contact@ethertech.dev.
